8th Holborn’s Beavers, Cubs and Scouts enjoyed a packed Spring Bank Holiday weekend at Thriftwood Campsite in Brentwood, Essex, for the North London Scout District Camp.

Eight Scout Groups and two Explorer Scout Units took part in this camp, which takes place every two years.

This year, 8th Holborn’s contingent made up about 80 of the 200 campers.

District Camp 2024 had an international theme and each participating group chose a country to theme its participation – ours was Italy, so we decorated our campsite with Italian bunting and chose an Italian game to share with other groups.

Activity sessions on Sunday and Monday included climbing, zip wire, cresta run, canoeing and much more.

We last visited Thriftwood in 2009 and much has changed since then, not least the advent of the Elizabeth Line that whizzes us from Farringdon to Brentwood in a mere 40 minutes.
